Welcome! You've just become the proud owner of the slick new Nintendo Switch 2. You're no doubt eager to dive into games like Mario Kart World and revisit classics like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker on this bad boy. But, before you can unleash your gaming skills, let's get this puppy set up.
Don't freak out, the setup process is easier than slicing through a Luigi cake. All you need is your Nintendo Switch 2 and a reliable internet connection, but hey, who doesn't have one of those days?
Here's a step-by-step guide to get your Nintendo Switch 2 primed and ready for action so you can start gaming without wasting valuable gaming time.
1. Select Your Language & Region
Once you've powered up the Switch 2, you'll be prompted to select your language and location to ensure a tailored experience.
Pick your preferred language and region.
2. Embrace the Legalese
Next up, you'll have to give your digital consent to the EUA (End User Agreement). Failure to do so means soldiering through life without a Mario fix, and nobody wants that tragic fate.
Check the 'Agree' box and then click 'Next.'
3. Connect to the Interwebs
After that, you'll need to connect your Switch 2 to the internet.
Navigate to 'Internet Settings,' choose your network, and then enter that precious network password. After that, select your time zone.
4. Keep It Simple
After completing the first three steps, select 'Don't Transfer' to skip the data transfer process. As before, you'll see pages detailing the Switch 2's play modes. Select the one that suits you best, and click 'Next.'
5. User Time
You'll need to add or create a first user for the Switch 2. Sign in to your Nintendo Account or add without signing in. The former saves time if you've got another Switch lying around, while the latter lets you create a new account from scratch.
For this guide, we're opting for the Sign In option using an existing Nintendo Account (cough, cough, mine).
6. Account Access
To sign in, scan a QR code or enter your login details manually. After that, give your consent to the privacy policy by clicking 'I agree.' Once signed in, click 'OK.' If other users will be using the Switch 2, add more users. If not, click 'Skip.'
7. Mission Accomplished
Once you've completed the steps above, cheers mate! The setup process is complete! Click on the Home button on the right Joy-con controller, and say hello to the Nintendo Switch 2 universe.
