The Onvo L90, a new full-size electric SUV, has entered the market, competing directly with Li Auto's recently launched i8. This family-friendly vehicle offers a practical approach, focusing on space and versatility.
The L90 boasts a spacious 240L front trunk (frunk), capable of accommodating two 20-inch suitcases, a children's luggage, and backpack, or a single 30-inch check-in luggage. The rear trunk offers 430L of space, including 106L of hidden storage.
In terms of performance, the L90 is no slouch. It comes equipped with a powerful rear electric motor producing 340 kW (456 hp) with rear-wheel drive or an additional 100 kW front motor for all-wheel drive. This setup enables 0-62 mph acceleration in 5.9 seconds (RWD) or 4.7 seconds (AWD).
The L90 is available in three versions: Pro, Max, and Ultra, with both six-seater and seven-seater options. The most expensive seven-seater Ultra version is more affordable than the starting price of the Li Auto i8.
The L90 is equipped with advanced technology, running on the Coconut 2.0.0 system. Its cabin technology includes a 35-inch Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR-HUD) and a 17.2-inch 3K central control screen. The cabin technology is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P cockpit chip, offering 60 TOPS of AI computing power.
The L90 comes with an 85kWh battery pack that can charge from 10-80% in just 25 minutes. It employs a 900V high-voltage architecture and features the same 925V high-performance silicon carbide permanent magnet synchronous motor as the Nio ET9.
The L90 offers a range of 605km for the RWD version and 570km for the AWD variant. It has a drag coefficient of 0.25, making it aerodynamically efficient.
The L90 comes standard with 24GB of automotive-grade DDR4 RAM and 256GB of storage. It also includes an 8.86L onboard refrigerator that can hold twelve 330ml soda cans and supports various temperature settings between 0-50°C.
In terms of pricing, the L90 offers a competitive edge. The starting price for the L90, including battery, is around $37,000. With the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan, the price drops to as low as $25,000, significantly lower than the Li Auto i8's starting price of about $44,830.
The Onvo L90 offers a compelling combination of size, performance, and practicality at a lower price point, putting pressure on the Li Auto i8 to justify its higher price with advanced technology and luxury appeal.
- The Onvo L90, with its focus on space and versatility, challenges the Li Auto i8 in the automotive industry.
- Despite its focus on practicality, the L90 boasts impressive technology, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P and featuring an AR-HUD and a central control screen.
- The L90's pricing strategy offers a competitive advantage, particularly with the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan, making it more affordable than the Li Auto i8, even without considering this plan.
- In the realm of finance, the lower price point of the L90, combined with its efficient 25-minute charging and long range (605km RWD, 570km AWD), presents a compelling argument for potential buyers, especially when compared to the Li Auto i8.
