Dongfeng eπ Technology Unveils Ambitious Plans for the Future

Chinese automotive company, Dongfeng eπ Technology, has announced a series of ambitious plans aimed at solidifying its position in the global market. The company, formed through the merger of Dongfeng's eπ (Yipai), Fengshen, and Nano sub-brands, is set to introduce over 30 international models by 2027, catering to both left- and right-hand drive markets[1]. In addition, Dongfeng eπ Technology plans to establish a global retail network of more than 2,000 outlets by the same year[1].

One of the key focuses for Dongfeng eπ Technology is the development of electrified and intelligent vehicles. To this end, the company is working on a next-generation electric platform featuring a voltage architecture exceeding 1,000V[1]. This platform will incorporate a 1,700V silicon carbide power module, a peak 12C charging rate, and a high-speed 30,000 rpm motor[1]. The platform is associated with a "dual megawatt fast charge" system aimed at enabling 450 km of range replenishment within five minutes[1]. The first vehicle utilizing this platform is expected to launch in 2026[1].

In a significant move, Dongfeng eπ Technology has confirmed a partnership with tech giant Huawei to develop a new premium vehicle line[1]. The flagship product from this collaboration will be a full-size SUV launched in 2026, running Huawei's HarmonyOS 5 and equipped with the QianKun ADS 4 driver-assistance suite[1].

Dongfeng eπ Technology will operate under two primary brand pillars: Dongfeng eπ for high-tech new energy vehicles and Dongfeng Fengshen focused more on conventional hybrid and ICE vehicles[1]. The Dongfeng Fengshen brand will focus on small to mid-sized vehicles, aiming to launch or update at least two models per year and a total of 10 models by 2028[1].

The company has also announced plans to introduce solid-state battery EVs by 2026. These batteries will combine silicon-carbon and high-nickel chemistries with high-conductivity solid electrolytes, aiming to improve energy density and thermal stability[1]. The target driving range for these vehicles exceeds 1,000 km[1].

The Dongfeng Fengshen L8, a five-seat SUV, is one of the models already available. It features ventilated and heated front seats, driver massage functionality, and a rear entertainment display[1]. The vehicle is powered by Dongfeng's Mach hybrid system, offering a 248 km electric range and a combined driving range of up to 2,245 km, with a fuel consumption rating of 2.4L/100km[1].

The pricing for the 2026 eπ 008, an updated version of the eπ 008, ranges from 173,600 yuan to 190,600 yuan (approx. 23,900 to 26,200 USD), offered as a limited-time launch price[1].
