Investor expresses interest in Lilium's operations, aiming to rekindle the flying taxi venture
The Ambitious Air Mobility Group (AAMG), a Dutch consortium specializing in advanced air mobility technologies, has announced plans to acquire the intellectual property, assets, and testing facilities of Lilium, a German electric flying taxi developer that recently entered insolvency.
AAMG, which consists of LuxAviation, Sigma Air Mobility, and the Ambitious Group, has already been working closely with Lilium since 2023 and had originally ordered 16 Lilium jets. The group has committed over €250 million in capital specifically for revitalizing Lilium’s program, with potential access to an additional €500 million to fund expansion and development efforts.
The acquisition forms part of AAMG's strategy to establish a European supply chain and production capability for the aircraft, reinforcing their ambition to grow operations across Europe and internationally. Dr. Robert Kamp, CEO and Senior Partner of AAMG, expressed his excitement about realizing Lilium's full potential and believes in the technical and economic feasibility of the platform, developed by a team of top engineers in Bavaria.
AAMG's main focus is advancing electric and hybrid-electric flight and related infrastructure. The group is registered in the Dutch trade register and has its headquarters in Amsterdam. According to their website, they also have locations in Dubai and Marbella.
The acquisition of Lilium's assets and technology positions AAMG as a significant player in advanced air mobility within Europe and internationally. Their intentions include retaining and rehiring Lilium's key technical and certification personnel to continue developing and certifying Lilium’s eVTOL aircraft platform.
Sigma Air Mobility, a subsidiary of Luxavation, is focused on electric and sustainable mobility solutions. The Ambitious Group, an internationally active personnel consultancy, is also part of the consortium.
In summary, AAMG's planned acquisition and revitalization of Lilium's assets and technology demonstrate their commitment to electric and hybrid-electric urban air mobility. The group is well-capitalized and boasts expertise in aviation and infrastructure development.
The acquisition of Lilium's assets and technology by AAMG, a consortium combining LuxAviation, Sigma Air Mobility, and the Ambitious Group, indicates their intent to mix finance and technology in the business sector, aiming to advance electric and hybrid-electric flight. The group's focus on retaining key personnel from Lilium will contribute to developing their electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft platform, positioning AAMG as a significant player in the field of advanced air mobility, not just in Europe, but internationally.
