Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan Discuss Potential Collaboration in Space and Digital Sectors
ASTANA — Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and Kyrgyz Cabinet Chairman Adylbek Kasymaliev visited the Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary Space Center and the Digital Government office on Feb. 25, exploring potential partnerships in the space and digital sectors.
The Kazakh side showcased advancements in Earth remote sensing and space monitoring technologies, showcasing their uses in natural resource management, agriculture, emergency response, and environmental monitoring, according to the Prime Minister's press service. These technologies have the potential to contribute significantly to mutual progress in these areas.
At the Digital Government office, the visiting delegation was presented with digital solutions, including the Social Wallet project, which offers targeted state support to citizens, and the Digital Family Card system, which monitors social well-being across more than 6 million families.
During the visit, both parties also discussed artificial intelligence applications in public administration. Highlighted tools included the eOtinish platform for handling citizen and business appeals, the eNotary system, and the National AI Platform. The meeting underscored Kazakhstan's innovative initiatives in digital government, with over 10 million users accessing services through the eGov mobile app.
After the visit, Kasymaliev, on his first official foreign visit to Astana, held bilateral talks with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Regional and international collaborations could potentially pave the way for future cooperation between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in these sectors. Both countries have been working together in water and energy management, and Central Asia, as a whole, is experiencing increased geopolitical interest.
