KDDI and Oasys collaborate on integrating blockchain technology in gaming sphere

In a move aimed at strengthening their positions in the growing world of blockchain games and decentralized applications (dApps), Japanese telecom giant KDDI Corporation and blockchain platform Oasys have announced a strategic partnership.

The collaboration, which was discussed in an interview for Mugenlabo magazine, involves the exploration of opportunities in the blockchain and Web3 technology space. KDDI, one of Japan's top three telecom companies, provides infrastructure and content-related partnerships for Oasys.

Oasys, a blockchain platform focused on gaming, has integrated with "αU market," an NFT marketplace, and "αU Wallet," a crypto asset wallet provided by KDDI Corp. This integration allows users to sell NFTs on Oasys through the "αU market" and manage their NFTs on Oasys using the "αU wallet." Users can also transfer and store OAS tokens, the platform's native cryptocurrency.

KDDI's knowledge of combining new technologies and communication is being utilised by Oasys to create experiences with 5G communication and AR/MR technologies. This move is anticipated to drive the widespread adoption of blockchain gaming to new levels of popularity.

The partnership follows KDDI's launch of their metaverse and Web3 service called "αU (Alpha You)" in March. Oasys finds strong support in KDDI's telecommunications sector experience.

Both brands are committed to exploring new opportunities that benefit their brands and users. Their goal is to create a world where anyone can be a creator. As part of their broader Web3 efforts, KDDI has become a network validator for Oasys.

KDDI took part as judges in Oasys' HACKJAM hackathon in Tokyo from June to July this year, helping Oasys' ecosystem grow. Kazuhiro Ikegami from KDDI Corp participated as a judge at the Oasys HACKJAM Hackathon in Tokyo in 2021.

The integration is expected to open up access to KDDI's extensive user base for developers building on Oasys. The partnership between KDDI and Oasys is aimed at strengthening their positions in the growing world of blockchain games and dApps. The two brands share a passion for blockchain and Web3 technology.
