Lavish Turntable from Audio-Technica Impresses with Breathtaking Transparent Aesthetic
Let's Take a Gander at Audio-Technica's Stunning AT-LPA2 Turntable
Audio-Technica has dropped jaws with their latest addition to the high-end market at High End Munich 2025 – the stunning Audio-Technica AT-LPA2. This bad boy is all transparency and minimalist design, giving you a front-row seat to the turntable's mechanical marvels.
The AT-LPA2 is inspired by the limited edition AT-LP2022 that celebrated Audio-Technica's 60th anniversary a few years back, but this time, it's a full-production model with a new arm, cartridge, and a price tag to match.
Featuring a 30mm high-density acrylic chassis and a 20mm acrylic platter, the AT-LPA2 radiates a sleek, contemporary aesthetic while offering exceptional resonance control. Say goodbye to those unwanted vibrations disturbing your vinyl replay. We've seen this glorious transparent acrylic employed to great success in the ultra-high-end Vertere SG-1 turntable we tested recently.
An optical sensor tucked beneath the spindle maintains consistent platter rotation, ensuring the turntable spins like a pro whether you're spinning 33 1/3 or 45 RPM records.
Swap out the AT-VM95EBK cartridge and Shibata stylus on the anniversary model with the brand's premium AT-OC9XEN dual moving coil cartridge. This baby is attached to a newly designed straight carbon-fibre tonearm for superior tracking and stability. Adjustable VTA and azimuth, an anti-skate mechanism, and two different counterweights ensure compatibility with a plethora of cartridges, catering to your every whim.
The turntable is equipped with a separate power supply and control unit, isolating the deck from noisy electrical interference, ensuring your listening experience is as pure as possible.
The Audio-Technica AT-LPA2 retails for £1699 / €1999 and is available now from select dealers. The limited edition model, while discontinued, sold for £999 / $1200 – though we wouldn't blame you if you're itching to splurge a tad more for the updated beauty.
Joining the AT-LPA2 is the next generation of the popular VM series of moving magnet cartridges – the AT-VMx series. Ranging from the 500x to the 700x models, this update offers nine cartridges with stylus and design variations to suit both vinyl newcomers and seasoned turntable aficionados.
