Leading AI figure incorporates into MISUMI's global supply chain and manufacturing sector
In a strategic move to expand its capabilities in the high-growth "online processing business," MISUMI Group Inc. has agreed to acquire Fictiv, a global supply chain technology company, for a total consideration of $350 million.
Fictiv, known for its simplified sourcing for custom mechanical components through AI-driven technology workflows, a global manufacturing network, and local manufacturing experts, has delivered over 35 million commercial and prototype parts to various sectors, including aerospace, robotics, clean energy, consumer, and automotive.
Ryusei Ono, Representative Director and President of MISUMI Group Inc., stated that the acquisition will amplify customers' 'Time Value'. Dave Evans, Co-Founder & CEO of Fictiv, shares a joint vision with MISUMI to make manufacturing and supply chain capabilities more accessible and intelligent.
MISUMI, a leading global supplier of mechanical components, tools, consumables, and other products, serving over 318,000 companies worldwide, achieves "globally Reliable, Quick Delivery" through a unique business model that combines manufacturing and distribution.
The acquisition will enable MISUMI to expand into the product development domain and increase its footprint in the U.S. manufacturing sector, regarded as a critical growth region. Fictiv's technological capabilities and customer service structure align well with MISUMI’s growth strategy.
Fictiv's recent technological advances in injection molding—such as design for manufacturability tools and mold visibility features—enhance the efficiency, transparency, and quality of custom part manufacturing, aiding customers to bring products to market faster and with reduced risk.
The combination is expected to drive innovation in digital procurement and on-demand manufacturing, improving lead times, cost efficiency, and supply chain transparency. Customers in equipment manufacturing and product development will benefit from integrated, AI-enabled platforms offering seamless custom parts sourcing and manufacturing solutions.
Enhanced supply chain networks and cross-selling between MISUMI and Fictiv’s businesses will expand service offerings and geographic reach, particularly in the U.S., promoting more agile, responsive supply chains. Fictiv’s advanced injection molding and custom manufacturing services contribute to reducing bottlenecks in new product development and prototyping, accelerating innovation cycles across industries such as automotive, medical devices, electronics, and consumer products.
Once closed, Fictiv will join MISUMI, which will help make Fictiv's solution even better and more scalable. The acquisition is an investment by MISUMI to accelerate the development of manufacturing and supply chain solutions that leverage AI. Fictiv's mission to simplify sourcing will be turbocharged through the acquisition by MISUMI.
