Live Nation Canada and Square team up for a groundbreaking agreement, revamping payment systems at music venues.

Square, a leading payments and commerce platform, has announced a significant partnership with Live Nation Canada. This collaboration aims to enhance live music experiences for concertgoers across the country by streamlining transactions and improving customer service at major venues.

Under the terms of the agreement, Square becomes the exclusive Point of Sale (POS) and payment processing partner at Live Nation Canada venues, including the highly anticipated Rogers Stadium in Toronto, set to open on June 29. This partnership allows for a more efficient commerce environment during events, with Square's technology supporting food, beverage, and merchandise transactions throughout the stadium.

Nick Molnar, Global Head of Sales at Block (which includes Square and Cash App), emphasised the importance of every minute saved in line as another memory made at the show. To achieve this, Square is introducing innovative portable POS technology, such as the Square Handheld, which allows vendors to make payments directly from their pockets. This mobility and flexibility can redefine vendor operations, making it easier for fans to buy merchandise and concessions without long waits.

The partnership also focuses on building loyalty among Canadian audiences and supporting regional live music scenes. Square's eCommerce tools, including in-seat ordering for premium suite guests at Budweiser Stage, ensure broader access and improved service quality for Canadian fans. The three-year agreement also includes compliance with Canada's provincial laws on ticket resale, data privacy (PIPEDA), and venue safety standards, ensuring smooth integration and trust within the Canadian live event ecosystem.

Looking ahead, this partnership may serve as a pilot or model that could expand into larger markets like the U.S. or Europe if successful, potentially driving further growth for Square’s live event commerce solutions. The enhanced partnership kicks off with Square's full technology rollout at Rogers Stadium in Toronto, with the aim to streamline concert purchases nationwide in Canada.

Square has proven to be a trusted partner for large-scale live entertainment venues globally. This partnership with Live Nation Canada is set to deliver faster, safer, and more enjoyable experiences for concert attendees while also supporting venue vendors and complying with key local regulations.
