Lockheed Martin and Leidos Australia Collaborate on the Australian Defence Force's Joint Air Battle Management System Project
Leidos Australia has announced a significant partnership with Lockheed Martin to support the development of the Australian Defence Force's next-generation Joint Air Battle Management System (JABMS) under Project AIR6500.
This collaboration will see Leidos Australia providing software development, cybersecurity, verification, and validation services in the cybersecurity, modelling and simulation, and validation domains of the JABMS enterprise. The partnership marks an important focus on designing a rigorous, independently validated, agile air battle management system for the Australian Defence Force.
Paul Chase, CEO of Leidos Australia, expressed his excitement about the opportunity, stating that this partnership is a significant step forward for Leidos' business growth in Australia.
Lockheed Martin ANZ CEO Warren McDonald expressed his delight at partnering with Leidos Australia, highlighting their wealth of experience in AIR6500. The partnership will see Leidos Australia working directly with Lockheed Martin engineers in real time to test and evaluate incrementally, supporting the engineers to continually progress and resolve technical issues rapidly to achieve project milestones.
A key aspect of the partnership involves the integration of intelligence and situational awareness information from Leidos' JP2096 intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance platform into the AIR6500 JABMS. This integration will assist Lockheed Martin Australia in building a highly robust and secure open systems architecture for AIR6500.
Having Leidos Australia integrated into the AIR6500 project builds trust and discipline into the agile software development process. This capability allows analysts to quickly search, collate, and assimilate information from multiple databases, delivering more complete information in a reduced timeframe, enabling swifter, better-informed decision-making.
The development of the JP2096 Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance System, intended to integrate with the JABMS of Project AIR6500, involves the Australian Department of Defence along with various Australian Defence contractors and industry partners.
The services provided by Leidos Australia are in support of the development of the Australian Defence Force's advanced integrated air and missile defense capability, AIR6500, which will provide the Australian Defence Force with an advanced integrated air and missile defense capability to combat current and future threats.
This partnership provides Leidos' Australian engineering team an opportunity to work in partnership with Lockheed Martin to shape and validate capabilities integrated into AIR6500, further solidifying Leidos' role in the development of Australia's defence capabilities.
