Longines Soars with New Spirit Pilot and Spirit Pilot Flyback Chronographs
Longines, renowned for its aviation heritage, unveils two new models, the Spirit Pilot and Spirit Pilot Flyback chronograph. Both timepieces boast a 100m water resistance and offer a range of strap options, including a green rubber strap for the Spirit Pilot.
The Spirit collection draws inspiration from Longines' rich aviation history, which includes ties to legendary pilots like Amelia Earhart and Howard Hughes. The brand's association with aviation dates back to the 1930s, when it collaborated with mathematician and engineer Charles A. Piaget to develop an automatic flyback chronograph.
The Spirit Pilot features a clean dial without a date window and a 39mm case size, appealing to many wearers. It houses the in-house L888.4 automatic movement, offering a 72-hour power reserve and enhanced magnetic resistance. The Spirit Pilot Flyback, on the other hand, is equipped with the hand-wound L792.4 column-wheel movement, providing a 68-hour power reserve and a countdown timer bezel. Both models are available now from Longines' website.
The Spirit Pilot is priced starting at $2,700, while the Spirit Pilot Flyback starts at $5,350. These new models pay homage to Longines' aviation lineage, which includes being the official timekeeper for the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale and collaborating with Charles Lindbergh on the Hour Angle Watch.
