Man, 28, Arrested for Attempting to Meet Minor for Sex After Online Grooming
Thurgau Cantonal Police have arrested a 28-year-old man from Northwestern Switzerland for attempting to arrange a sexual encounter with a minor. The man posed as a 19-year-old on social media to contact the underage girl, who is under 16 years old.
The girl's parents from the Upper Thurgau region alerted the police after discovering the inappropriate contact. Investigations revealed that the suspect, a 28-year-old man, had been grooming the minor online. This case is an example of 'cybergrooming', a practice where adults build trust with minors to engage in sexual conversations or acts.
The man was arrested by the Thurgau police in connection with the planned sexual meeting involving minors. He had been pretending to be 19 years old on social media to communicate with the girl.
The 28-year-old suspect is now in custody, facing charges related to attempting to meet a minor for sexual acts. The Thurgau Cantonal Police remind parents to be vigilant about their children's online activities and to report any suspicious behaviour.
