Maxfield Mellenbruch's $2M 'Rare' to Debut at Bitcoin Conference

American sculptor and designer Maxfield Mellenbruch is set to captivate audiences at the Bitcoin Conference in Las Vegas, 2025, with his most ambitious piece to date, 'Rare'. This platinum and gemstone-encrusted sculpture, appraised at over $2 million, is expected to become the highest-selling artwork priced in bitcoin at the conference's history. Mellenbruch, known for his high-design cryptographic functions, will discuss the piece in a panel titled 'From Cave Art to Code: Redefining Value in a World of Absolute Scarcity' on the Genesis Stage.

The creation of 'Rare' took approximately a year, from conception to execution. It will be the centrepiece of the Deep Vault VIP exhibition during the conference. Mellenbruch was inspired by his fascination with what's real, enduring, and nourishing, leading him to explore the controversial narrative around red meat and its connection to Bitcoin. The sculpture, a blend of anatomical familiarity and extreme material excess, also features satirical details like a leather case mimicking butcher paper.

Mellenbruch sees 'Rare' as a cultural artifact challenging our inherited instincts around luxury, permanence, and what it means for something to be truly valuable. The panel, scheduled for May 29, 2025, from 3:10-3:40 PM, will delve into these themes just hours before the sculpture's auction concludes on Scarce.City.

Maxfield Mellenbruch's 'Rare' promises to be a standout attraction at the Bitcoin Conference in Las Vegas, 2025. Its anticipated high sale price in bitcoin and thought-provoking narrative make it a must-see piece. Attendees can look forward to learning more about this remarkable sculpture and its creator's insights on value and scarcity in the digital age.
