Mitsubishi's New Eclipse Cross BEV Takes On European EV SUVs by End of 2025
Mitsubishi Motors is set to enter the electric SUV market with the all-new Eclipse Cross BEV, debuting in Europe by the end of 2025. This model aims to rival popular European EV SUVs and offers a blend of affordability, performance, and technology.
The Eclipse Cross BEV is designed for daily commutes and long road trips. A more affordable, medium-range version is planned for 2026. Mitsubishi targets European EV SUVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and Renault Mégane E-Tech with this model.
The SUV will be built on the CMF-EV platform and produced at Renault's ElectriCity Douai Plant in France, leveraging the Renault-Mitsubishi alliance. It boasts a Dynamic Shield face, hexagonal rear styling, and 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it offers a two-row, five-seat setup with diamond-stitched seats, customizable ambient lighting, and a panoramic electrochromic glass roof.
The Eclipse Cross BEV delivers 160 kW of power and 300 Nm of torque. It supports DC fast charging up to 150 kW and features a one-pedal driving function and selectable regenerative braking. With an 87 kWh battery pack, it is estimated to have a 600 km (WLTP) range.
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross BEV is set to debut in Europe by the end of 2025, offering a compelling blend of performance, technology, and affordability. Its production at the Renault factory in Douai, France, underscores the strength of the Renault-Mitsubishi alliance. With its impressive range and charging capabilities, the Eclipse Cross BEV is poised to make a significant impact in the European EV SUV market.
