Vodafone Expands 5G Network in Uelzen District

Vodafone, one of Germany's leading communication conglomerates, has taken a significant step forward in its efforts to expand its mobile communications network. The company has put a new 5G station into operation in Wrestedt, a move that will benefit approximately 3,000 residents and guests by eliminating a gap in mobile broadband coverage.

The new station is part of an infrastructure project called "Mobile communications for the district of Uelzen". This project is not only about improving connectivity but also about ensuring essential services. The station enables emergency calls and disaster warnings, including the latest variants of AML and Cell Broadcast.

Cell Broadcast, a technology installed in all mobile communications stations, allows the surrounding population to be warned via smartphone of danger situations such as major fires, gas explosions, or floods. This feature underscores Vodafone's commitment to public safety and well-being.

Residents of the Uelzen municipality will also reap the benefits of Vodafone's expansion plans. Two further mobile communications construction projects are planned by Vodafone in the district by mid-2026. These projects are part of Vodafone's strategy to close gaps and expand mobile data highways.

In addition to its mobile communications initiatives, Vodafone is also driving infrastructure expansion in Germany. The company aims to reach two-thirds of all German households with gigabit speed in its nationwide cable-fiber network. The next expansion phase will see Vodafone upgrading the remaining eleven stations without 5G to 5G stations.

Vodafone's mobile network, including its machine network (Narrowband IoT), functions on over 97% of German territory for industry and business. The company respects and values diversity, promoting measures for reconciling family and career, and networks for women, fathers, or LGBT+.

Furthermore, Vodafone is committed to operating sustainably. The company aims to be carbon-neutral by 2025 and emissions-free by 2040. These initiatives demonstrate Vodafone's dedication to responsible business practices and its role as a forward-thinking player in the communication industry.
