Vodafone Expands Mobile Network in Uelzen, Germany
Vodafone, one of Germany's leading communications conglomerates, is expanding its mobile network in the district of Uelzen. The technical director of Vodafone, Tanja Richter, emphasized the importance of mobile communications as a crucial factor for quality of life and a significant infrastructure element for the local economy and jobs.
The company's machine network, Narrowband IoT, already covers over 97% of Germany's surface area for industry and business, and this expansion in Uelzen is part of Vodafone's ongoing investment in improving mobile communications across the country.
A new mobile communications station in Wrestedt has been put into operation, eliminating a gap in mobile broadband coverage. This station also supports the latest variants of the emergency call technology AML and the disaster warning system Cell Broadcast, ensuring the safety and security of the surrounding population.
Currently, Vodafone operates 45 mobile communications stations in the district, all equipped with LTE technology. Thirty-four of these stations also have 5G on board, enabling over 95 percent of the inhabited areas in the district to access 5G. The municipality of Uelzen will benefit from these expansion projects, as approximately 3,000 inhabitants and guests were connected to Vodafone's mobile data highway with the construction of the new site.
In the next expansion phase, Vodafone will upgrade and convert the remaining eleven stations that are still broadcasting without 5G to 5G sites. By mid-2026, Vodafone plans to realize a total of two further mobile communications construction projects in the district.
Vodafone is committed to sustainability, aiming to be CO2-neutral by 2025 and emission-free by 2040. The company has already achieved 100% of its power demand with renewable energies.
Beyond its technical advancements, Vodafone promotes diversity through various measures, including offers for work-life balance and networks for women, fathers, or LGBT+.
