Moorings Revolutionizes Sailing with Central Winch Pod on New Catamaran
The Moorings, a leading charter company, invites potential customers to boat shows to experience their catamarans' comfort and functionality. The first catamaran with a central winch pod, the Moorings 4000/Leopard 40, has made sailing easier and more enjoyable.
The Moorings' production process for their 4000 catamaran involves meticulous planning of the helm station. A 'mock-up' of each new model is built to test the layout and set up, ensuring comfort and ease of use. The helm station is designed with a separate hardtop, providing protection from the elements while maintaining visibility and connection with the crew.
The concept of the central winch mount, introduced by American designer Lock Crowther in the 1960s, has been adopted by Moorings. This feature, first seen on the Moorings 4000/Leopard 40, allows for easier raising of the mainsail and reefing of the genoa from the helm. Additionally, Moorings catamarans feature single line reefing for the main sail, enabling easy reefing while sitting at the helm.
The Moorings 4200 catamaran is now available for charters in various destinations worldwide, including the British Virgin Islands, Exumas (Bahamas), and Belize. This catamaran, a result of the Moorings-Robertson & Caine partnership, is designed for comfortable and efficient single-handed sailing.
The Moorings continues to innovate and improve the sailing experience. With their focus on comfort, ease of use, and efficient design, their catamarans are available for charter in popular destinations worldwide.
