In 2024, the YouVersion Family of Apps, which includes Bible App, Bible App Lite, and Bible App for Kids, experienced a significant surge in engagement across the globe. Africa, Central America, and Latin America saw the fastest growth in daily use, with nations like Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal, Nigeria, and countries in Central and Eastern Africa leading the way.

According to the annual review, the YouVersion Bible app had a 30 percent increase in engagement compared to the previous year, with over 478 million verses shared throughout 2019. The most shared Bible verse globally that year was Philippians 4:6: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” This verse remained the most highlighted, bookmarked, and shared verse in the YouVersion apps in 2024 as well.

The growth in engagement with YouVersion Prayer features increased by 46% compared to last year. Words like prayer and peace were among the top in-app search terms, indicating a strong focus on spirituality and seeking solace.

On average, the apps managed 11.2 million new device installs per month, with around 14 million people engaging in the Bible every day. Africa experienced the highest national increase in daily use of the Bible App for Kids, with a 13% jump. Central Africa and Eastern Africa saw daily Bible engagement grow by 54% and 56% respectively, with the entire continent witnessing increased daily Bible use compared to last year.

In 2024, the biggest growth in Bible engagement took place in Nicaragua (107%), Venezuela (74%), and Bolivia (52%). YouVersion has been intentional to add more partnerships and regionally-specific content in Latin America over the last several years, which may have contributed to this growth.

Bobby Gruenewald, founder and CEO of YouVersion, stated that this indicates the community is seeking God in prayer and trusting Him with their burdens. He further added that this growth underscores the need for continued investment in the spiritual lives of people around the world.
