MSI sets foot in the American electric vehicle charger market with the EV Life Series

In a recent development, MSI has expanded its business to electric vehicle (EV) chargers in North America. The company has unveiled the EV Life and EV Plus charging stations, providing a convenient and efficient charging solution for EV owners.

The EV Life Series offers four different models, catering to various needs. These models support both SAE J1772 and NACS (Tesla) connectors, available in NEMA 14-50 or hardwired configurations. On the other hand, the EV Plus Series, currently available for purchase, supports the OCPP 1.6J standard, a secure industry-standard communications protocol for charging.

The EV Life Series chargers are priced at $449 for a model with NACS or SAE J1772 connector, and $499 for a NEMA 14-50 electrical hookup. The EV Plus Series starts at $549.99 for a hardwired connection with a NACS or SAE J1772 connector, and $599.99 for a NEMA 14-50 electrical hookup. For comparison, Tesla's 11.5kW/48A Wall Connector is priced at $420.

Both series offer impressive charging capabilities, with the EV Life Series providing 14.4kW/60A, adding between 43 and 59 miles of range per hour to the average EV. The EV Plus Series, similar to the EV Life Series but with additional features, also offers the same 14.4KW/60A charging capabilities.

One of the standout features of the EV Plus Series is its remote monitoring capability, allowing users to monitor charging progress from anywhere, unlike the short-range limitations of Bluetooth-only support. The EV Life Series chargers, on the other hand, have built-in Bluetooth and can be paired with the MSI aConnect app for monitoring and scheduling charging routines.

With the MSI aConnect app, users can also monitor current and historical charging times, electricity savings, total electricity costs, and carbon emissions saved. The EV Plus Series chargers are available for purchase directly from MSI or Amazon.

The EV Plus Series chargers also include RFID authentication support, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet connectivity for remote monitoring, making them a robust and versatile charging solution for EV owners. As for the company providing the EV Life and EV Plus EV charging stations in North America, it is not explicitly mentioned in the available search results, nor is the exact date when these stations will be available for purchase.
