Title: Safety Alert: SharkNinja Recalls Over 2 Million Pressure Cookers Over Burn Risk
By: WYATTE GRANTHAM-PHILIPS, Associated Press Business Writer
In a Nutshell: SharkNinja is recalling millions of Ninja-branded pressure cookers due to a hazard that's led to over 100 burn injuries. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada issued notices on Thursday, warning consumers about the danger of hot food spewing out when the lid is opened while the cooker is in use.
The Details:
SharkNinja's "Foodi OP300 Series Multi-Function Pressure Cookers" have a faulty lid design that poses a significant burn risk. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, there have been 106 reports of burn injuries in the U.S., including over 50 reports of second or third-degree burns. No additional injuries have been reported in Canada. Twenty-six lawsuits have been filed as a result [1].
The company has urged consumers to immediately stop using the pressure-cooking function and contact SharkNinja for a free replacement lid. However, other functions like air frying are not affected by the recall [2].
Impacted model numbers of the recalled pressure cookers include OP300, OP300C, OP301, OP301A, OP301C, OP302, OP302BRN, OP302HAQ, OP302HB, OP302HCN, OP302HW, OP305, OP305CO, OP305CCO, and OP350CO. Additionally, any OP300 series replacement pressure cooker lids purchased as an additional part are also included in this recall [3].
These multiuse cookers were made in China and sold between early 2019 and the spring of 2025 at major retailers like Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club, Amazon, Target, and Ninjakitchen.com, for about $200 [4].
Consumers can learn more information and request a free replacement lid by visiting SharkNinja's recall page [5].
