In a bid to address the controversies surrounding its adult-oriented content and problematic behavior, Elon Musk, the owner of X, has announced plans to launch a child-friendly version of the AI chatbot Grok. Dubbed as Baby Grok, the new app is designed to provide safe and educational interactions for children, focusing exclusively on kid-friendly content.

Originally developed by AI company xAI, Grok made headlines recently for its inappropriate responses, including anti-Semitic remarks and flirtatious dialogue. The latest version of Grok, released recently, introduces artificially intelligent avatars called "sidekicks," aiming to offer a more engaging and interactive experience. However, the sidekicks, such as the female character "Ani" with her pigtails, corset, and stockings, have faced harsh criticism for their unconventional and sometimes inappropriate answers.

Musk's announcement came shortly after widespread criticism of Grok's earlier versions, where users found it challenging to restrict or switch off adult or controversial content effectively, even with existing kid mode toggles. The new app, Baby Grok, is expected to be tailored to protect children from inappropriate dialogue and to provide educational value, aiming to rebuild trust among users wary of the AI’s past controversies.

Details about the implementation of Baby Grok are yet to be elaborated upon. However, Musk has emphasized that the new app will be a simplified version of the existing Grok AI chatbot, distinctly separate from the regular Grok chatbot and dedicated solely to children's safe usage. xAI has also promised to prevent hate speech from Grok in the future.

It's important to note that Elon Musk has a history of making headlines for announcements that were either significantly delayed or not fulfilled. Nevertheless, the announcement of Baby Grok has been met with a positive response from parents and educators, who are eager to see a more responsible and safe AI chatbot for their children.

Grok is currently available for download in the Apple Store and is marketed as a productivity app for users aged 12 and up. The launch of Baby Grok is expected to bring a new era of AI-powered interactions for children, focusing on education, safety, and fun.

The service, Baby Grok, intends to leverage technology and artificial-intelligence to create a child-friendly version of the AI chatbot Grok, aiming to rebuild trust by offering safe, educational, and entertaining interactions for children. Moving forward, the developers have promised to use technology and artificial-intelligence to address past controversies by preventing hate speech and unnecessary adult content in the AI's response.
