NDR Revamps News Production with MediaCeption in 2023
Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) is revamping its news production system with a new content management solution, MediaCeption. This move will enhance operations across its platforms, including tagesschau, tagesthemen, tagesschau24, website, and social media. The solution, based on VIA Media Asset Management Platform (VIA MAP), is set to go live in 2023.
NDR is partnering with EVS for this integration. Serge Van Herck, CEO of EVS, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, citing a shared commitment to innovation, reliability, and customer success.
MediaCeption offers robust ingest and playout with VIA MAP XS-VIA servers and nearline storage with XStore. It also includes disaster recovery capabilities using IPDirector, LSM-VIA, and XNet-VIA. Integrations with OpenMedia NRCS and Viz Mosart Automation will connect the cross-media newsroom with industry-standard tools for cohesive workflows.
EVS is responsible for installing and operating the VIA MAP and MediaCeption solution. This includes integrating them into NDR's news workflow, covering the daily news programme tagesschau and related formats.
The new solution, MediaCeption, promises to support cross-media workflows and enhance the use of artificial intelligence in news production. Marcus Bornheim, chief editor ARD-aktuell, anticipates these benefits. With the system scheduled to go live in 2023, NDR looks forward to streamlined operations and innovative news production.
