Osbit, a key player within Venterra Group's offshore wind businesses, has expanded its assembly and service facility at the Port of Blyth. This strategic move aims to enhance collaboration across the group's offshore wind ventures, enabling Osbit to take on multiple projects simultaneously and meet the growing demands of the industry.

The newly opened facility, spanning an impressive 3,350 square metres, is more than four times larger than Osbit's previous site at the port. This expansion provides ample room for enhanced operational capabilities, including the development and testing of innovative offshore wind equipment such as wind farm installation tools and floating offshore wind cable testing rigs.

The expansion of the facility strengthens the partnership between Osbit and the Port of Blyth, fostering innovation and growth in the offshore energy sector. The new facility includes meeting rooms and client hosting facilities, facilitating better collaboration and communication among Venterra's portfolio of offshore wind companies. The larger space also supports the growth of Osbit's team, enabling them to expand with the sector.

The development of this facility was supported by the Business Growth Fund, which was funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund by the North East Combined Authority, Gateshead Council, and Sunderland Council. This financial support was crucial in enabling the significant investment in the new facility.

The new facility, located at the Port's Wimbourne Quay, offers access to multiple heavy lift quays. It also includes the conversion of one of the port's warehouses into an engineering workshop for Osbit. The project has created 33 jobs for the region, contributing to the local economy.

Steve Binney, Osbit Director responsible for the site's development, stated that the facility allows for simultaneous project delivery under one roof. The transformation included the addition of new offices and overhead cranes, with the adjoining facility providing a satellite office for Osbit's expanding team.

The expansion of Osbit's facility at the Port of Blyth is a significant step forward in the UK's offshore wind industry, positioning Osbit to deliver cutting-edge solutions and contribute to the sector's growth.
