Shigeru Miyamoto kicked off the Nintendo Direct, setting the stage for an exciting reveal of games coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.

The highly-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed Hades, Hades 2, will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2 this month. Joining the lineup is Donkey Kong Bananza, an exclusive game for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Nintendo Switch 2 owners can look forward to a range of third-party AAA games, including Resident Evil Requiem, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 - Switch 2 Edition (due Fall 2025), Goodnight Universe (November 11, 2025), and Yakuza Kiwami 1+ 2 (November 13, 2025).

The Nintendo Direct also announced several new games, such as Mario Tennis Fever, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, and a new Fire Emblem title. Fans of the Kirby series will be thrilled to know that a successor to the beloved franchise is in the works.

In addition, a new Bubsy 3D game, a 2D brawler based on He-Man, and Enter The Gungeon 2 were revealed. Upgraded titles like The Exit 8 and Fantasy Life i, with enhanced features for Switch 2, were also announced.

The Nintendo Switch 2 was launched with only one new game, Mario Kart World. However, the most recent Nintendo Direct has showcased and confirmed first-party remasters and new games for the platform, addressing the initial disappointment of the lack of new games at launch.

The Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are set to be released on the Nintendo Switch 2 in October. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie was also revealed in the Nintendo Direct.

Historically, Nintendo has sold consoles by releasing new games, as demonstrated with the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii. With exclusive IPs such as Pokémon and The Legend of Zelda, Nintendo continues to attract fans with its unique and engaging content.

Despite initial stock issues on the release of the Nintendo Switch 2, the platform's future looks promising with this new catalogue of games. The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct has certainly delivered, offering a variety of exciting titles for gamers to enjoy.
