Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim advocates for qualified appointments, dismissing power abuse concerns at PKR Congress in Johor Bahru
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Malaysia's Prime Minister, emphasized the importance of appointing competent individuals during his speech at the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) National Congress in Johor Bahru on May 24. Anwar underscored that such appointments were not an abuse of power.
In his address to over 10,000 delegates physically and around 20,000 online, Anwar highlighted the need for decent service and contributions from individuals to receive rewards, especially those who had sacrificed their careers and savings for the party.
Anwar acknowledged a party member named Pak Kudus in Tanjung Karang, who supported him after his dismissal, living on a meager pension of RM1,800 a month. He also noted academic lecturers and medical specialists who lost their jobs and spent substantial sums of money but received nothing in return, nonetheless living frugally.
Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh, in a Facebook post, hailed the Prime Minister's understanding of the Barisan Nasional (BN) government's previous actions. Muhamad Akmal appreciated this realization, having thanked Anwar in a social media post, as reported by Utusan Malaysia.
The PKR National Congress, held at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre, follows a period where Anwar acknowledged that his focus on party matters has been marginal, given his national responsibilities as Prime Minister.
