OKX Set to Launch X Layer, an Ethereum Layer 2 Rollup in October 2025

OKX, the world's second-largest crypto exchange by trading volume, is set to launch X Layer, an Ethereum Layer 2 rollup, by October 2, 2025. This ambitious project aims to reduce costs, increase speed, and enhance interoperability, marking a significant step in OKX's strategic priority to establish an open blockchain network.

OKX has allocated a $100 million fund, the OKX World Finance Fund, to support the development of the X Layer ecosystem. The exchange has a three-phase roadmap for X Layer: the first phase involves integrating stablecoins, with USDT already connected through a partnership with Tether. The second phase will see the connection of DeFi protocols like Aave, Uniswap, Balancer, and Chainlink. The final phase will introduce incentive programs.

The Vision Token (VSN), managed by the VISION Web3 Foundation with support from the Bitpanda Web3 Committee, will govern X Layer through on-chain voting by token holders. OKX aims to improve its Web3 and Decentralized Finance offerings with this project, which is described as a hybrid of stablecoins, DeFi, and Web3 running on a scalable platform.

OKX's X Layer, launching in October 2025, promises to enhance the exchange's Web3 and DeFi offerings. With a substantial fund allocated for development and partnerships with key players like Tether, Aave, and others, X Layer is poised to reduce costs and increase speed on the Ethereum network. Despite past regulatory challenges, OKX remains committed to expanding its blockchain network.
