New Electric Vehicle Charging Park Opens in Amstetten, Austria

The electric vehicle (EV) charging park in Amstetten, Austria, has officially commenced operations on August 1, 2025. Situated near the Amstetten-West exit of the A1 motorway, the park spans over an area of more than 3,000 m² and currently offers 38 ultra-fast charging points, each capable of up to 400 kW capacity, with plans to expand to 50 charging points in the future [1][2].

This new facility is the first major project of Ladewerke Amstetten GmbH, a subsidiary of Stadtwerke Amstetten GmbH. The charging bays are leased to three operators: Ionity, Tesla, and the regional provider Energieversorgung Niederösterreich (EVN) [1][2].

The charging park is designed to cater to a wide range of users during their stopovers. Amenities include a lounge area with catering services, toilet facilities, green spaces, a children’s play area, and a separate dog walking zone [1]. The bistro "In the Box 21" at the charging park follows a regional supply principle, ensuring that the hunger and thirst of electric vehicle drivers are satisfactorily addressed.

Harald Stressler, Ladewerke Amstetten's deputy manager, stated that the goal is for everyone to find what they need for their journey or the next stop at the charging park [1]. The park is strategically located for easy accessibility for both local drivers and travelers.

The Amstetten charging park serves as a pilot project for potential further charging parks of a similar scale. According to Harald Stressler, it acts as a model for Austria’s mobility transition goals and future infrastructure planning [1][2]. The ongoing operations at this site in the "Auf der Oiden" district are being evaluated to inform potential expansions or additional locations [1][2].

An official opening ceremony is scheduled for September 19, during the European Mobility Week [1].

The charging park, designed with amenities such as a bistro and lounge area, leverages technology to provide a comfortable and convenient stopover experience for EV drivers.
