Earning digital trust is not an automated process but requires critical decisions, investments, and organizational changes communicated by the top leadership team. Leaders must understand the technology, develop a realistic vision for its use, and ensure that the technology embodies the organization's core values and the values of its users.

The World Economic Forum has identified eight dimensions to foster digital trust: cybersecurity, safety, transparency, interoperability, auditability, redressability, fairness, and privacy. A Chief Trust Officer can play a vital role in establishing and managing digital trust within an organization. Senior leadership should recognize that earning trust in technology requires investing time in making informed decisions, establishing an effective vision, and recruiting dedicated advocates for building trust.

CEOs must recognize that trust in technology can only be earned by addressing users' concerns effectively, making right decisions, and fostering an environment built on transparency and integrity.
