Nio Inc's latest release, the Onvo L90, has been making waves in China's electric vehicle market. The large SUV, launched on July 31, 2025, has shown impressive sales performance, setting itself up to potentially break Nio Inc's record for the highest monthly sales of a single model.

Since its launch, the Onvo L90 has delivered over 4,000 units within the first 10 days[5][3]. For August, NIO has set an ambitious target of over 10,000 units for the L90[3]. If achieved, this would surpass the historical record set by the ES8, which peaked at 3,318 units in December 2018[4].

The Onvo L90's strong initial sales performance and the company's ambitious delivery targets for the model indicate that it is poised to break the record. Last week, the L90 delivered over 2,093 units, ranking second in China's weekly sales of large SUVs, trailing Huawei-backed Aito M8's 3,690 units[1].

The Onvo L90's sales have also surpassed the combined sales of Li Auto's Li L9 and Li L8 in the weekly sales rankings for large SUVs[2]. The L90 recorded 2,093 insurance registrations during the week of August 4-10[6].

It's worth noting that the Onvo vehicle production plant in Hefei, Anhui province, is currently operating at full capacity[7]. Nio Inc sold 6,089 units last week, ranking among the top five in China's weekly automotive sales[8].

The report did not specify the source of the sales data, but it was published in the Securities Times and Yiche[9]. Weekly sales are measured by insurance registrations in this context[9].

If Onvo maintains this delivery pace, the L90 is poised to break Nio Inc's record for the highest monthly sales of a single model. The Onvo L90's success is a testament to the growing demand for electric vehicles in China and Nio Inc's ability to meet that demand.
