Police force in Rhineland-Palatinate secures purchase of two H145 helicopters
The Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Interior has made a significant decision to modernise its police helicopter fleet. In Q1 2024, the force will take delivery of two new Airbus H145 helicopters, replacing their current H135 fleet.
The H145, unveiled at Heli-Expo 2019 in Atlanta, is a versatile, light twin-engine helicopter known for its extensive mission capabilities, particularly in public services and law enforcement. The latest upgrade adds a new, innovative five-bladed rotor to the multi-mission H145.
The H145 is powered by two Safran Arriel 2E engines, providing performance and reliability. The helicopter is equipped with the Helionix digital avionics suite, including a high-performance 4-axis autopilot, designed to reduce pilot workload and increase safety.
These new H145s will be operated by the police helicopters squadron in Winningen. They will be outfitted with highly sophisticated equipment to enhance mission capabilities, making them ideal for a range of tasks such as emergency medical services (EMS), law enforcement, search and rescue (SAR), surveillance, and logistical support.
Wolfgang Schoder, Managing Director of Airbus Helicopters in Germany, expressed his gratitude towards the Rhineland-Palatinate government for their decision. He highlighted the H145's adaptability to diverse missions, advanced avionics, and operational efficiency, making it a highly effective platform for public services and law enforcement missions globally.
The H145's cabin is designed according to high medical standards, enabling quick response to critical health emergencies, while its agility and advanced avionics support SAR operations in challenging environments. In terms of law enforcement, the H145 supports a range of missions such as surveillance, tactical transport, and public safety operations, as demonstrated by Bahrain’s Police Aviation Command.
With the new H145s, the Rhineland-Palatinate police force will benefit from the helicopter's low acoustic footprint, making it the quietest helicopter in its class, and low emissions, which are advantageous in urban environments and public operations. The new version of the Airbus H145 also features an innovative five-bladed bearingless main rotor, increasing its useful load by 150 kg, simplifying maintenance, and providing a smoother ride.
This upgrade marks a significant step forward for the Rhineland-Palatinate police force, ensuring they have the most advanced technology and equipment to serve their community effectively.
The Rhineland-Palatinate police force will soon incorporate modern gadgets, as they are set to receive two new Airbus H145 helicopters, equipped with highly sophisticated equipment for a variety of missions such as law enforcement. The versatile H145, known for its extensive mission capabilities, is a testament to the integration of cutting-edge technology in these gadgets.
