Qualcomm's Vision for Snapdragon XR Day 2025: Elevating Smart Glasses to a Level Equivalent to Smartphones

Qualcomm, a leading global semiconductor company, is making a significant push to bring AI-powered smart eyewear to Indian consumers. The company has announced that its Snapdragon chipsets will power smart glasses in India, with Xiaomi's AI glasses being one of the key products.

Xiaomi's AI glasses, which were launched in China in June, are expected to be introduced to Indian consumers soon. The glasses are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 chip, a testament to the company's commitment to driving innovation in augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

The Xiaomi AI glasses come with a host of features designed to enhance the user experience. These include an AI assistant for real-time translation across 10 languages, QR code payments, a 12MP camera supporting 2K video at 30fps, and Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. The glasses are lightweight, weighing just 40 grams, and are IP54 rated for dust and splash resistance.

The batteries in the Xiaomi AI glasses are designed to last up to 8.6 hours of typical use or 7 hours of music playback. The glasses are compatible with Android 10+ and iOS 15+ devices and offer additional features such as voice control for smart home devices and live streaming capabilities to platforms like TikTok.

Savi Soin, Sr Vice President & President at Qualcomm India, spoke about the future of smart glasses, expressing the company's vision of a future where they will be as essential to daily life as smartphones. Qualcomm Technologies aims to accelerate the growth of spatial computing in the Indian market.

The Snapdragon XR platforms have already powered over 100 devices worldwide, demonstrating their capabilities in delivering a balance of sleek, lightweight design with powerful functionality for smart glasses.
