Ramped-up Manufacturing of Modular Drone System in Latvia, dubbed as 'Eraser'
Latvian Drone Manufacturer Eraser Expands Military Product Line
Latvian drone company, Eraser, is making headway in the defense industry, with a focus on the development and production of advanced unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The company, which has been in operation for a year, has already produced over a dozen systems and models, according to CEO Edgars Gauručs.
Eraser's product line now includes kamikaze drones and anti-drone systems, designed for both offensive and defensive military applications. The company's strategy goes beyond drones, encompassing anti-drone systems, 5G, and artificial intelligence.
The production process at Eraser is unique, as it does not require welding. Instead, the drones are assembled using connectors, a method that is making production more efficient and accessible, much like assembling LEGO blocks.
Currently, Eraser produces 1,500 drones per month with a team of over 25 technicians. This production capacity is large, according to Gauručs, and the company plans to increase production to over 2,000 drones per month if demand allows.
Eraser's drones are modular and adaptable to various tactical situations, such as reconnaissance, target marking, cargo transport, and specialized operations. They can also operate without global navigation satellite system (GNSS) support, making them suitable for various operational environments.
Testing facilities for Eraser's drones are located at the Sēlija military training ground. The company's main customers are public sector representatives, including the Ministry of Defence, National Armed Forces, National Guard of Latvia, and troops of NATO countries.
One of Eraser's key clients is the Latvia and UK-led Drone Coalition for Ukraine, which is playing a significant role in the company's growth. Latvia is also taking a leading role in the Drone Coalition, aiming to develop a drone army.
Defense Minister Andris Sprūds has emphasized Latvia's aim to become a big player in the drone industry. With Eraser's expansion and innovative production methods, it seems that Latvia is well on its way to achieving this goal.
