Resident identified for timber-composite multi-storey building in Mainz secured
In the heart of Mainz Zollhafen, construction is underway for a groundbreaking project – the first wood-hybrid high-rise in Rhineland-Palatinate, aptly named "Timber Peak". This 40-meter high, twelve-story building boasts a total lettable area of 8,750 square meters.
The medical technology company Dexcom has secured approximately 2,000 square meters of leased office space in this future-oriented building. This lease is for a period of ten years with an option to renew, and the planned move is scheduled for spring 2026.
Timber Peak is not just a high-rise; it's a testament to sustainability. Approximately 1,000 cubic meters of wood have been installed, binding about 1,000 tons of CO2. The building will be supplied with climate-neutral energy through the use of renewable energy sources, such as a combination of photovoltaics and geothermal energy. This will help reduce energy consumption significantly.
The building's design is striking, with large window fronts and two green terraces on the fifth and twelfth floors. The lettable areas in Timber Peak can be divided from about 300 square meters, making it flexible for various office needs.
Dexcom's new location in Timber Peak corresponds to approximately 23 percent of the total lettable area. The architect or construction company responsible for this innovative project is UBM Development, with Bernhard Egert as managing director involved in the project development.
Timber Peak is more than just a high-rise; it's a symbol of sustainable development and innovation in Mainz Zollhafen. With its completion, the area will continue to evolve as a hub for progressive businesses and a beacon for environmental consciousness.
