Revamped grille added to 39-inch MBUX Hyperscreen: The electric Mercedes-Benz GLC boasts an exhilarating design
Mercedes-Benz Unveils GLC EV: A Revolutionary All-Electric SUV
Mercedes-Benz has made a significant stride in the electric vehicle (EV) market with the unveiling of its latest concept model, the GLC EV. The vehicle was showcased at the Munich Motor Show, promising to serve as a successor to the EQC.
The GLC EV boasts an impressive exterior design, featuring an illuminated front grille that sets it apart from the current ICE version of the GLC. The grille, composed of 942 small squares illuminated by 140 individual LEDs, adds a striking visual element to the vehicle.
Inside, the GLC EV's interior is a testament to luxury and innovation. The vehicle includes an intricate ambient lighting system, dual wireless phone chargers on a floating console, and other features designed to enhance the driving experience. The highlight of the interior is the mammoth 39-inch MBUX Hyperscreen, the largest display ever fitted in a Mercedes-Benz car.
The MBUX Hyperscreen uses matrix backlight technology with over 1,000 LEDs and supports zone dimming. Optional for the GLC EV is a constellation of 162 LEDs on the roof, replicating a star-studded sky.
The GLC EV's powertrain is equally impressive. In the flagship variant, power will be channelled to two motors, each powering one axle, and the variant will be able to churn out 476 bhp peak power. The vehicle is powered by a 94 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, promising up to 713 km range on a single charge under the WLTP cycle.
The new GLC EV offers 570 litres of cargo space in the rear and a 128-litre frunk. The vehicle's panoramic glass roof can shift from transparent to opaque across nine individually switchable segments, offering passengers the flexibility to control their environment.
The GLC EV will also feature the same Airmatic air suspension as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, complete with rear-axle steering and intelligent suspension control. The air suspension communicates with traffic infrastructure to sense and respond to speed bumps on the road and uses Google Maps data to ensure the car is in its lowest possible setting for as long as possible, boosting efficiency.
The production version of the all-electric SUV will join the Mercedes-Benz line-up in the first half of 2026. With its sleek design, cutting-edge technology, and impressive performance, the GLC EV is poised to make a significant impact in the EV market.
One notable design element that is set to become a signature across the entire Mercedes-Benz lineup is the star-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRL). The GLC EV also features this distinctive design element.
In addition to its impressive features, the GLC EV's new generation battery pack supports charging speeds of up to 330 kW, enabling a 300 km range in just 10 minutes. This rapid charging capability will undoubtedly appeal to consumers looking for convenience and efficiency.
The GLC EV comes with a two-piece roof spoiler at the back, adding to its sporty and dynamic appearance. With its array of innovative features and sleek design, the GLC EV is a clear indication of Mercedes-Benz's commitment to leading the way in the EV market.
