New Suunto Run Fitness Tracker Watch: A Compact and Affordable Option for Runners

The Finnish company Suunto has released a new fitness tracker watch, the Suunto Run, which offers a range of features for athletes at an affordable price.

The Suunto Run comes with a 1.32-inch, 466 x 466 OLED display and a mid-size 46mm diameter casing, featuring a steel bezel and a stainless steel and plastic finish. The watch is water-resistant up to 5ATM, making it suitable for swimming and other water-based activities.

One of the standout features of the Suunto Run is its dual-band GPS, which provides accurate route guidance and tracking during runs. The watch also includes a barometric altimeter for altitude data and a temperature sensor, as well as PPG sensors for heart rate monitoring. However, it's worth noting that the heart rate accuracy during weights-based gym sessions may be less reliable.

The Suunto Run is equipped with a touchscreen and two buttons on the side, next to a clicky rotary dial. It supports standard GPX file data for route creation and syncing, and allows for the creation of guided interval sessions in the Suunto phone app. The watch also has 4GB of onboard space for music or podcasts.

The Suunto Run provides athlete-friendly stats such as VO2 Max, training load, and recovery percentage, making it an ideal tool for serious runners. The watch's battery life lasts up to 12 days off a charge, but is reduced when using the "always on" screen mode.

The watch comes in colours such as yellow, orange, black, and grey, and weighs just 36g. It is compatible with Android 8.0 and above, as well as iOS 16.0 and above.

While the Suunto Run lacks a virtual coach feature compared to other Suunto watches, it is still a serious alternative to the Garmin Forerunner 165 Music at a lower price. The watch retails for $249/£199/$449.

In summary, the Suunto Run is a compact, affordable, and feature-rich fitness tracker watch that caters to the needs of serious runners. Its accurate GPS tracking, athlete-friendly stats, and water-resistance make it a versatile tool for a variety of activities.
