British Rowing and EXR have announced an extension of their strategic partnership through 2025, aiming to develop ongoing connected virtual rowing experiences. This collaboration focuses on creating interactive virtual rowing events and grassroots developments, supported by Sport England, to enhance accessibility and engagement in rowing via EXR’s virtual platform.
The partnership in 2025 will feature monthly group rows and races, discount and trial access, grassroots development, and a focus on blending traditional rowing with innovative virtual rowing technology.
Monthly Group Row Events and Races
A calendar of virtual rowing events co-hosted by British Rowing and EXR will be held throughout 2025. These events include group rows on courses like Mangrove Mirage and Temple Island Shortcut, as well as race events like Desert Eight and Polar Loop. These events are designed to build community, improve fitness, and prepare athletes for big rowing competitions like the British Rowing Indoor Championships (BRIC).
Discount and Trial Access
Participants will receive exclusive offers such as a 10% discount code (BR25) after a free 14-day trial of the EXR rowing app, encouraging wider participation and engagement with virtual rowing technology.
Grassroots Development
Alongside elite virtual events, the partnership supports grassroots rowing initiatives to grow the sport and promote active lifestyles through connected digital experiences.
The extended partnership aims to broaden participation and provide new training and racing formats throughout 2025. Monthly virtual group rows and racing events will be hosted on the EXR app, with an invitation extended to rowers from around the world, regardless of their indoor rowing machine type.

- On Wednesday, 26th November, a Race Event will be held to help rowers prepare for BRIC/Super Sprint Sunday, featuring a 2km course named Polar Loop.
- A Group Row on EXR and British Rowing will take place on Sunday, 28th December, with a 10km course named Trail of extremes.
- A Race Event on EXR and British Rowing will take place on Wednesday, 24th September, at 19:00 pm, with a 2.9km course named Desert Eight.
- The next Group Row on EXR and British Rowing will be on Sunday, August 31st, 2025, at 10 AM, with a 4.4km course named Mangrove Mirage.
- A Group Row on EXR and British Rowing is scheduled for Sunday, October 26th, with a 3.5km course named Temple Island Shortcut - Henley.
