Russia Aims for 180 Additive Tech Centers by 2030 as Market Surges

The Russian government has set ambitious goals for the development of additive technologies, aiming to create 180 centers by 2030. The market for these technologies has seen significant growth, reaching 12 billion rubles in 2023, surpassing the predicted 2030 mark. The strategy, approved in 2021, focuses on research, integration, and innovation to boost industrial competitiveness.

The Russian market for additive technologies now boasts over 150 enterprises, with around 60 specializing in metal printing. This growth is reflected in the increasing share of Russian producers in the domestic market, rising from 54% in 2022 to 70% in 2023. Globally, the market for additive technologies reached $25.7 billion in 2024 and is projected to exceed $110 billion by 2030, growing at an annual rate of 23%.

Internationally, additive manufacturing has seen significant advancements. In 2015, GE Aviation opened the first industry platform for producing aircraft parts using 3D printing in Auburn, USA. Airbus, in 2017, installed a titanium bracket made using 3D printing on a series of A350 XWB aircraft, reducing the part's weight by a third. By 2018, GE Aviation had 40 3D printers in operation and produced a 30,000th fuel nozzle tip using additive technology.

The Russian government's strategy aims to create 180 centers for additive technologies by 2030, building on the current market size of 12 billion rubles. With the global market expected to reach over $110 billion by 2030, Russia is positioning itself to be a key player in this rapidly growing industry.
