Samsung Drops Galaxy S26 Edge, Focuses on S26+ and Upcoming Tri-Fold Device
Samsung has shifted its focus, halting development of the Galaxy S26 Edge and initiating work on the Galaxy S26+. This change comes amidst rumours of an upcoming tri-fold device, which could debut under the Galaxy banner in the coming weeks.
The Galaxy S26 series is set to expand with the addition of the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. This shift follows disappointing sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge, leading Samsung to replace the Edge variant with the Galaxy S26+.
Rumours suggest that Samsung may unveil its first tri-fold device as early as this month. This innovative device, tentatively named the Galaxy G Fold, is expected to feature three display segments and could be a dual-foldable smartphone. The company is rumoured to present this device at the APEC 2025 summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, from October 31 to November 1, 2025. However, initial availability may be limited, with only 50,000 units expected for a limited launch.
Samsung's decision to prioritise the Galaxy S26+ and the upcoming tri-fold device signals a shift in their smartphone strategy. The company is expected to reveal more details about these devices in the coming weeks, with the tri-fold device potentially hitting the market next year.
