Roborock Saros Z70: A Revolutionary Vacuum Cleaner with a Mechanical Arm

Saros Z70 Roborock Vacuum: Limited Impressive Features

By Klaus Wedekind (or KlausTheRoboGuy)

The Roborock Saros Z70, boasting a cutting-edge OmniGrip mechanical arm, promises continuous evolution through updates and user feedback. Let's dive into its current performance and future potential!

This bad boy handles its primary tasks well but sometimes falls short when it comes to clearing its path of objects. Unlike traditional vacuum and mop robots that typically clean around items on the floor, the Saros Z70 uses its metal arm to move aside objects like socks, shoes, or even place them in a box for a spotless and tidy household.

Slim Design, Hidden Muscles

It's hard to believe that the robot packs a mechanical arm inside its slim 8 cm tall and under-low-furniture-friendly design. The arm is concealed under a flap on the top and only extends when needed.

The Saros Z70 docks in a high-end cleaning station where its battery charges, water refills while dirty water drains, and mop pads are cleaned, dried, or stored at up to 80°C.

Impressive Mapping

Setting up the robot via the comprehensive, yet user-friendly app is quick, and you can send it off to map your rooms. Once it's done, it usually navigates well, leaving few reachable spots uncleaned. Plus, the robot reliably detects the type of floor it's on and adjusts its brush and wiper configurations accordingly.

Robot Roommate's Tricks Up Its Sleeve

This robot is brimming with features. It can store multiple maps with multiple levels, allowing you to edit rooms in the app, set up no-go zones, or virtually place furniture. You can also define a zone and the location of the included storage box where the Saros Z70 will deposit collected items - like socks and shoes.

In addition, the robot can take photos of obstacles or pets on request, and its camera lets you remotely control it with your smartphone or make video calls to interact with your furry pals through its built-in speaker.

Top-notch Vacuuming

Despite the arm leaving space for only one brush roll, the robot is a powerful vacuum cleaner. It performs well on smooth floors and leaves little behind in corners thanks to its extendable side brush. It even handles low-pile carpets and carpeted floors well when you increase the suction power - up to 22,000 Pascal according to the manufacturer.

Mopping Made Easier

The wiping performance of the robot vacuum is decent for a cleaning robot. As long as there are no dried-on sauces or similar substances on the floor, it doesn't leave any stains behind. If necessary, you can increase the water volume or run it twice. To reach even the tightest corners, the Saros Z70 can extend a mop, sufficient for everyday use, but occasionally manual cleaning may be required.

There are several automatic cleaning programs to choose from, and you can also send the robot to specific zones defined in the app for special cleaning.

The Gripper, a Work in Progress

In theory, the Saroros Z70's mechanical arm is designed to lift and sort various items, potentially making it a useful tool in the future. However, currently, the arm can only recognize socks, large paper balls, and light debris like tissue paper up to 300 grams.

Practical testing revealed that the arm rarely lifted items and often drove around them or drove over them, especially flat slippers. The robot also sometimes failed to transport items to the designated storage zone.

You can use the remote control to pick up items manually, but this method is more fun than efficient.

Time for an Update?

The Roborock Saros Z70 is a great suction and wiping robot that can handle many tasks independently. However, the mechanical arm's current limitations leave it difficult to justify its substantial price tag. By continuously updating features and implementing user feedback, the arm's capabilities will likely grow, making it a must-have accessory in the future.

Stay tuned for updates on the Roborock Saros Z70 because this powerful vacuum cleaner will continue to evolve and impress!

In the future, vocational training in smart-home technology can foster a more efficient community where homes seamlessly integrate with technology, providing a tidier and more organized household environment, as demonstrated by the Roborock Saros Z70's mechanical arm.
