Eutelsat Launches 20 New Satellites into Low Earth Orbit

In a significant milestone, Eutelsat Group has successfully launched 20 satellites into low Earth orbit (LEO) aboard SpaceX's Falcon 9. This launch, which took place at 10:13 pm PT on October 19 from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, marks the anniversary of the merger between Eutelsat and OneWeb.

The current CEO of Eutelsat Group, Jean-François Fallacher, expressed delight at the successful launch and deployment of the new OneWeb satellites. Eva Berneke, who took over as CEO in July, also congratulated and thanked the teams at Eutelsat Group and SpaceX for their hard work on the launch.

Signal acquisition was confirmed on all 20 satellites, which were dispensed in 10 batches over a period of 20 minutes. The satellites were built by Airbus U.S. Space & Defense in Merritt Island, Florida.

Berneke remains committed to delivering value for customers and shareholders. She stated that they are excited by the growing demand for their multi-orbit services. Since the merger, Eutelsat has seen a significant increase in demand for these services.

The new OneWeb satellites are expected to strengthen Eutelsat's network services, improving overall performance for customers. Eutelsat is uniquely positioned to offer customers the advantages of geostationary Earth orbit (GEO) for high-throughput capacity alongside the low-latency, high-speed global connectivity provided by LEO satellites.

This launch is a significant step in Eutelsat's collaboration with industry leaders to deliver cutting-edge connectivity services worldwide, across sectors. Eutelsat is collaborating with companies such as Intelsat, Inmarsat Maritime, and Hughes to deliver these services.

Berneke expressed her gratitude for the support from these partners and reiterated Eutelsat's commitment to delivering on its promise of providing reliable, high-performance connectivity solutions. The successful launch of these new satellites is a testament to Eutelsat's capabilities and its position as a leader in the satellite communications industry.
