Skoda, the Czech automobile manufacturer, has announced that its next big move will be the release of an electric SUV, the Vision 7S, in 2026. This will mark the first full-fledged seven-seater electric SUV within the group.

In an interview, Skoda's CEO, Zellmer, confirmed the electric nature of the Vision 7S study. He also expressed his excitement about the upcoming launch, stating, "I am looking forward to the series version of the Vision 7S study, which will be the first full-fledged seven-seater electric SUV within our group."

Zellmer also addressed concerns about Skoda's pricing strategy. Despite the increase in prices due to the rise in production costs, he assured customers that Skoda's vehicles will continue to offer a good price-performance ratio. However, he noted that achieving a 10% return on turnover may not be possible in entry-level segments.

Regarding Skoda's smaller models like the Fabia, Kamiq, and Scala, Zellmer confirmed that they will remain on sale for several more years, despite not having successors with combustion engines planned. This decision is based on Skoda's strong position in the market, which provides a favourable balance between material costs and price.

Zellmer also hinted at Skoda's future plans, suggesting that the company may consider a pure electric car only in certain segments, or continue to believe in the profit and capital return potential of the Fabia, Kamiq, and Scala.

Another significant development is that if Skoda does not take over the production of smaller electric vehicles comparable to the ID.1 or ID.Polo within the VW Group, Volkswagen itself is positioned to produce these models. VW is focusing on a new electric small car family including the ID.Polo and ID.Cross, with the market launch planned for the first half of 2026.

Regarding the issue of Skoda becoming too luxurious, Zellmer denied this risk. He explained that higher prices are possible due to Skoda's increased brand value over the past five years. However, he emphasized that Skoda will continue to offer affordable and high-quality vehicles to its customers.

In summary, Skoda is set to launch its electric SUV, the Vision 7S, in 2026. The company also plans to maintain its commitment to offering affordable and high-quality vehicles, while exploring the potential of electric cars in certain segments. The continued sale of the Fabia, Kamiq, and Scala is a testament to Skoda's strong market position, and the company's decision to focus on smaller electric vehicles within the VW Group further solidifies its commitment to the electric future.
