The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, an ultra-performance electric sedan, has made a triumphant entrance into the Chinese market, with deliveries commencing on March 3, 2025. The model, priced at RMB 529,900 ($72,930), has experienced overwhelming demand, surpassing Xiaomi's initial sales target of 10,000 units for 2025 within hours of its availability.

Since its launch in March 2024, Xiaomi has been ramping up its EV production, with the SU7 model series delivering over 258,000 units by May 2025. The SU7 Ultra, as a higher-end variant, has outperformed expectations, achieving more than double its yearly sales goal in just a few months.

Xiaomi's growing production capacity has played a significant role in maintaining a steady delivery pace for its EVs. The company has been expanding its retail presence as well, with 220 stores in 65 Chinese cities as of today. To further boost deliveries, iAmi EV, Xiaomi's EV subsidiary, plans to add 16 new stores in March.

The SU7 Ultra boasts impressive performance specifications, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.98 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 6.09 seconds. Powered by three motors, it delivers a maximum horsepower of 1,548 Ps.

As for the sales figures, the SU7 series sold a total of 139,487 units in China in 2024, with the SU7 model alone reaching 248,000 confirmed orders by the end of that year. The SU7 Ultra, with its high-end features, has continued this trend, receiving over 15,000 firm orders as of the latest update.

To cater to this demand, iAmi EV is increasing its production capacity. The company aims to meet the growing demand for the SU7 Ultra and its other models, such as the YU7 SUV, which is expected to start production soon with Phase 2 of Xiaomi’s EV factory.

Xiaomi's EV division is scaling up rapidly, with the SU7 Ultra taking on competitors like Porsche, and the YU7 set to follow suit. Despite some supply-demand imbalances causing longer wait times for certain models, the company's commitment to expanding its production capacity and retail network ensures a promising future for its electric vehicle lineup.
