Steinert's renowned dependability and reliability merge for Conservit product line

In the world of metals recycling, every minute of downtime at shredder yards and sorting plants can mean lost revenue. However, the ruggedness of STEINERT equipment helps reduce such instances, as demonstrated by Conservit Inc., a Maryland-based metals recycling company with a long-term relationship with STEINERT spanning 50 years.

This strategic partnership, which has evolved from a single equipment purchase, has transformed Conservit's metals recycling operations significantly. The key benefits brought to Conservit by STEINERT include:

High-quality metal recovery: STEINERT's precision-engineered sorting equipment enables Conservit to recover 4-12% more metallics from auto shredder residue (ASR) compared to competitors with nearly double the sorting devices, highlighting the superior efficiency of STEINERT’s technology combined with Conservit's operational excellence.
  2. Operational excellence and support: STEINERT provides quarterly performance assessments and continuous communication support, helping Conservit maintain and optimize equipment performance and systematically improve operations.
  3. Facility modernization: Conservit evolved from a smaller, outdated nonferrous sorting plant into a modern, profitable, and efficient metals recycling facility by investing in STEINERT's advanced sorting technology.
  4. Expanded service capabilities: The growing fleet of STEINERT sorting equipment has allowed Conservit not only to upgrade material quality but also to expand its recycling service menu.

Ross Meadema, a long-time STEINERT contact for Metzner and Conservit, praises the metals recycling company for its maintenance and operation of the sorting devices. In 2021, Conservit added high-end sorting machines from STEINERT to refine mixed metals from its nonferrous plant. The expanded sorting plant with STEINERT equipment allows Conservit greater access to the growing domestic market for high-grade mixed shredded metals.

The test conducted by STEINERT and Conservit with a sample of shredded mixed metals from the operator's auto shredder residue revealed that 4-12 percent metallics were found in the ASR that the operator had been discarding, despite operating nearly twice the number of sorting devices compared to Conservit. This test result highlights the potential for improved recovery of valuable metals from auto shredder residue.

Thanks to its long-term relationship with STEINERT, Conservit has transformed its nonferrous sorting plant from outdated to modern and successful. The ruggedness of STEINERT equipment, as demonstrated by the long lifespans of the early machines Conservit acquired, helps reduce downtime at shredder yards and downstream sorting plants.
