Stellantis Announces the Launch of STLA Large BEV Platform for Tier One Models from Dodge, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, and Maserati.

Stellantis N.V., the multinational automobile manufacturing company, has unveiled its latest innovation - the STLA Large platform. This new, flexible BEV-native platform is set to underpin a series of upcoming vehicles in the D and E segments.

The STLA Large platform will not be limited to a single brand, as Stellantis plans to launch full-size vehicles on this platform across various brands in North America starting from 2024. Besides the popular Dodge and Jeep brands, the Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, and Maserati brands will also see full-size vehicles based on the STLA Large platform.

One of the key features of the STLA Large platform is its fast charging capability. It is designed to add up to 4.5 kWh per minute to its 800-volt battery pack, ensuring quick and efficient charging.

The flexibility of the STLA Large platform serves as a bridge for customers during the transition to electric propulsion and the development of a robust charging network. It also allows for upgrading the propulsion system performance during the vehicle's lifespan via over-the-air software updates.

The design flexibility of the STLA Large platform includes both transverse and longitudinal engine mounting configurations, supporting front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive drivetrains. This versatility allows it to cater to a wide range of vehicle types.

The STLA Large platform supports Stellantis' next-generation electrical and software-defined vehicle technologies. Key comfort and performance components are designed to minimize energy consumption, enhancing the driving range.

Stellantis has planned to launch eight vehicles from 2024-2026, covering a full spectrum of vehicle types, from cars to crossovers to SUVs, all based on the STLA Large platform.

The STLA Large platform is designed and engineered as a native BEV platform, with the option of 400-volt and 800-volt electric architectures. It is also compatible with hybrid and internal combustion propulsion systems without compromising key vehicle capabilities.

The battery pack options for the STLA Large platform have energy ratings between 85 and 118 kilowatt hours (kWh). The platform also boasts several segment-leading capabilities such as embedded energy, charging efficiency, high-performance vehicle dynamics, and Trail Rated off-road driving.

Key STLA Large metrics include an overall length range of 187.6-201.8 inches (4,764-5,126 mm), an overall width range of 74.7-79.9 inches (1,897-2,030 mm), a wheelbase range of 113.0-121.1 inches (2,870-3,075 mm), a ground clearance range of 5.5-11.3 inches (140-288 mm), and a maximum tire diameter of 32.6 inches (858 mm).

Stellantis is investing more than €50 billion over the next decade in electrification to reach a 100% passenger car BEV sales mix in Europe and 50% passenger car and light-duty truck BEV sales mix in the United States by 2030. The STLA Large platform is one of four global BEV platforms outlined by Stellantis, key to achieving the company's strategic plan.

The initial generation of propulsion components can deliver acceleration of 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in the 2-second range. Full-size vehicles based on the STLA Large platform will first be used in the North American market on the Dodge and Jeep brands, followed by other brands including Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, and Maserati.

The STLA Large platform employs advanced high-strength materials, optimized for weight and rigidity to enable best-in-class performance across various vehicle types. Components within the platform are packaged to maximize usable interior space and storage.

The STLA Large targets an overall range of 800 km/500 miles for sedans, making it a promising contender in the electric vehicle market. With its versatility, efficiency, and performance, the STLA Large platform is set to revolutionize Stellantis' electric vehicle offerings.
