Subaru affirmatively announces plans for three electric Sport Utility Vehicles to debut in the year 2026.
Subaru Unveils Three Electric SUVs for 2026: Uncharted, E-Outback, and Updated Solterra
Subaru is set to expand its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio with the launch of three all-new electric SUVs in 2026. The new additions, which include the Subaru Uncharted, E-Outback, and updated Solterra, are part of the company's broader EV push.
2026 Subaru Uncharted
The Subaru Uncharted, a new electric SUV, will be available in three trim levels: Premium FWD, Sport, and GT. The Premium FWD model will feature a single front motor with 221 hp, while the Sport and GT models will boast a twin-motor setup (front and rear) with a combined output of 338 hp. The dual-motor versions are capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in under 5 seconds.
The Uncharted will come with a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack housed in the floor. The Premium FWD model offers a range of over 300 miles, while the Sport and GT models provide a range of up to 290 miles. The Uncharted will support DC fast-charging at 150 kW, enabling a charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes. It will also feature a 11 kW onboard AC charger and compatibility with Tesla's NACS port.
The Uncharted will offer Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) with Subaru’s X-Mode Dual Mode and Grip Control for traction management. It will provide more than 25 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row and boast a very tight turning radius similar to the Subaru Crosstrek. The Uncharted will be available in early 2026.
Subaru E-Outback
The Subaru E-Outback, set to launch in summer 2026, is the sister model to the new Toyota bZ4X Touring. It will feature a spacious interior with a 14-inch infotainment display, wireless charging, and enhanced safety systems. The E-Outback will provide larger cargo space than the Solterra, enough for four large suitcases. It will also come with Subaru’s electric AWD system for managing torque distribution between axles.
Updated Subaru Solterra
The updated Subaru Solterra, Subaru's third new model, will receive hardware and software improvements, increasing its power output to 252 kW (344 hp). The battery capacity will expand to 73.1 kWh, enabling over 310 miles of range. The Solterra will also offer a doubled towing capacity of 1,500 kg.
The updated Solterra will retain the same electric AWD system as the other models. It will be available in early 2026, three years after the initial launch, with enhanced performance and range.
The Solterra and Uncharted are the result of Subaru's partnership with Toyota. Both vehicles will feature body cladding for protection and a high ground clearance of 210mm. The second new model to arrive next year from Subaru will be the E-Outback, which will have a wagon silhouette and a 210mm ground clearance.
Pricing and detailed UK market specifications for these models are yet to be announced and will be revealed closer to each model’s launch date.
In line with Subaru's EV strategy, the Subaru Uncharted electric SUV is slated to be offered in three trim levels, boasting a range of over 300 miles for the Premium FWD, acceleration from 0-60 mph in under 5 seconds for the dual-motor versions, and a 150 kW DC fast-charging capability.
The Subaru E-Outback, a sister model to the Toyota bZ4X Touring, is scheduled for release in summer 2026 and will feature a spacious interior, enhanced safety systems, and larger cargo space compared to the Solterra.
Following hardware and software improvements, the updated Subaru Solterra will offer increased power output, extended battery capacity, and a doubled towing capacity, all in preparation for an early 2026 launch.
The Subaru E-Outback and the updated Subaru Solterra, born from Subaru's partnership with Toyota, will both feature body cladding, high ground clearance, and are set to be preceded by the second new model from Subaru next year, the E-Outback with a wagon silhouette.
