In a recent turn of events, Cybertruck owners, including one from Tennessee named David, have encountered screen malfunctions on their vehicles' main 18.5-inch screens while driving. David's experience was shared on the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, where he also included a video of his drive, with the center touchscreen frozen.

The frozen screen prevented David from accessing crucial information like speed and turn signals. Remarkably, the camera views were stuck showing the store parking lot, even though David was driving on public roads, and the Cybertruck's speed display showed a speed of 10 miles per hour, despite him driving faster.

Interestingly, the double scroll wheel reset method, an alternative to power cycling the vehicle when the touchscreen is unresponsive or demonstrating unusual behavior, was used by David to resolve the issue. This method involves holding both scroll wheels on the Cybertruck's steering wheel until the main screen turns off and restarts.

While Tesla's official manual warns against restarting the touchscreen while the vehicle is moving due to potential loss of visibility for the car's status display, safety warnings, backup camera, and other features, some Cybertruck owners and Tesla users report that a soft reboot of the main screen can be done while driving without disabling features like Full Self-Driving (FSD). Mongo, a Cybertruck owner from Michigan, suggests resetting the touchscreen while the vehicle is still moving.

However, it is essential to note that Tesla's official recommendations state that a hard reset of the Cybertruck's screen should only be performed when the vehicle is stopped and the brake is applied. This is to prioritise safety and ensure that driver and passenger safety are not compromised.

In addition to the screen malfunction, David's scroll wheels and voice control also stopped functioning. The frozen touchscreen on David's Cybertruck prevented him from accessing essential information like speed and turn signals, even during his drive on public roads. Remarkably, David managed to resolve the issue by using a double scroll wheel reset method, a technique that some Tesla users apply when their gadgets like smartphones or vehicles' touchscreens exhibit unusual behavior.
