Tesla Announces Lease Price Increase for Model Y Long Range in the U.S.

In a recent update, Tesla has announced changes to the lease prices for its Model Y Long Range in the United States. The starting lease price for the Model Y Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) has been increased to $399 per month, up from the previous $349/month. Similarly, the lease price for the Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD) has been raised to $449 per month, up from $399/month.

These changes typically assume a 36-month lease with a $3,000 down payment and a 10,000 miles per year limit. Prior promotional deals with lower lease payments have been phased out as Tesla anticipates strong demand and the federal $7,500 EV tax credit expiration on September 30, 2025.

It's important to note that the federal EV tax credit for Tesla vehicles is set to expire on the same date. Prospective buyers may want to order sooner rather than later if they want to take delivery before the end of Q3 to avoid the Q3 delivery crunch with delivery timelines stretching.

Tesla is not using its traditional end-of-quarter discounts to encourage last-minute orders at this time. The company's online configurator will be updated to reflect the extended delivery estimates.

Raj Jegannathan, AI and IT Infrastructure Engineer at Tesla, has confirmed that there won't be any additional end-of-quarter discounts beyond what Tesla is already offering in the U.S. The lease pricing change applies only to the Model Y Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive for now.

Additionally, Tesla now allows customers to buy out any lease, including for the Cybertruck, at the end of their term. This move gives customers more flexibility and ownership options for their vehicles.

With these changes, leasing a Model Y Long Range in the U.S. at this time will cost approximately $399/month (RWD) and $449/month (AWD) under typical lease conditions. As always, it's recommended to consult with a financial advisor to determine the best option for your specific circumstances.
