Unleash Your Sound takes with TDR Nova - The Multifunction Dynamic EQ
Top-notch (complimentary) add-ons and their utilization: TDR Nova – a comprehensive guide
Craving that sharp, focused masterpiece? Regular EQs and dynamics processors don't always cut it. Enter the realm of flexible, powerful dynamic EQ – TDR Nova, our star pick, brought to you by the creative minds at Tokyo Dawn Records and Labs.
Dynamic EQ for better focus
Dynamic EQ grants a level-dependent approach, where it exerts cutting or boosting band specific EQ based on the input signal's level. This means you gain pinpoint precision in frequency processing.
Grab TDR Nova – It's on the House!
Head to the Tokyo Dawn site to scoop up this versatile plugin for free. TDR Nova offers four bands with high and low pass filters, a regular wideband compressor, and an essential dynamic EQ, all available in VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX formats.
Run away with the Bands!
TDR Nova's interface sports a regular parametric EQ look, complete with a node-based display, frequency analyzer at the top, and knob-style controls. Each of the four bands boasts a curve shape (low shelf, bell, and high shelf), Q width, frequency (10Hz to 40kHz for all bands), and gain (+/- 18dB). Moreover, low and high pass filters can be enabled and adjusted on the left.
Hear it Solo, in the Right Order
Just below the display, you'll find the activation row, where you can select and bypass the bands, and access Band Solo for independent auditioning and Order By Frequency, which renumbers the bands when not created in frequency order.
A Tiny Bite of Compression...
First up in the dynamic EQ world, TDR Nova delivers a regular wideband compressor. Access it by ensuring none of the 4 parametric bands are selected in the activation row. Now, engage the threshold button to kick off compression settings on the right.
...And the Main Course – Band-Specific Dynamic EQ
Next on the plate, the real star, is the band-specific dynamic EQ. Nestled within the settings of each regular EQ band, this function is by default inactive. Activate the threshold, use the EQ, and let the dynamic magic happen. You can work with all elements simultaneously, and link the compressor settings between each band and the wideband compressor via the WB button.
A Few Extra Tasty Options
Nova features a Sticky mode (accessed via ALT + click on Threshold button) that lets you remove individual bands from the wideband compression. Additionally, it offers helpful options like GR Delta, Dry mix, global EQ Gain, and more in its top menu bar.
Say Hello to Some Dynamic Applications
