Türkiye's Automotive Market Surges in September 2025, Driven by EV Adoption
Türkiye's automotive market witnessed significant growth in September 2025, with overall vehicle sales surging nearly 26% year-over-year. This impressive rise was driven by a substantial increase in hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) adoption, marking a notable shift in the market.
Hybrid and electric vehicle sales soared in September, with hybrid sales up by 64.9% and EV sales increasing by 33.3% compared to the same period last year. This trend contributed to an overall market increase of more than 9% for the stock market today so far. Despite gasoline cars leading the market with a 46.6% share of sales, the growing demand for eco-friendly vehicles is evident.
Togg, a Turkish automaker, made a strong entry into the domestic EV market. Its new T10F sedan became the second-best-selling electric model in September, with 1,194 units sold. This achievement demonstrates the company's potential to drive competition and transformation in the stock market today. BYD, a global leader in electric vehicles, also made its mark, securing the third spot among EV manufacturers in Türkiye in September.
Car sales alone jumped by 26.8% to 88,274 units, while light commercial vehicle sales rose by 21.7% to 22,028 units. This resulted in a total of 110,302 passenger car and light commercial vehicle sales in September, a 25.7% increase year-over-year. The strong sales performance in September was remarkable, with sales being 66.5% higher than the 10-year average for the month.
The significant growth in hybrid and electric vehicle sales, coupled with the strong entry of domestic automakers like Togg, signals a promising future for Türkiye's automotive market. As the market continues to grow, with total vehicle sales up 9.2% to 927,647 units from January through September, the increasing demand for eco-friendly vehicles is set to reshape the stock market today landscape.
