Lightning Fast Internet Hits Yakutia: Allaga and Tit-Ebye Get a Speed Boost
Two rural communities now enjoy high-speed internet connection through 4G service provided by MegaFon.
The villages of Allaga and Tit-Ebye in Yakutia are now connected to high-speed internet, thanks to MegaFon's installation of 4G telecom equipment. Suntarsky District's Allaga saw its first connection, while Tit-Ebye's network got a significant upgrade.
Before MegaFon's intervention, Allaga was internet-less, and Tit-Ebye's connection was provided by a station 3.5 kilometers away. Not anymore! The new equipment installed at both sites supports 4G, VoLTE technology, delivering a swift internet connection of up to 80 Mbps.
The engineered network in Allaga harnesses a blend of low and medium frequency bands, offering a robust LTE network with tentacles that reach plenty of indoor spaces. The improved Tit-Ebye network, meanwhile, boasts additional high-frequency gear, enabling Netflix-worthy video streaming, large file downloads, online gaming, e-government services, shopping, video calls, social media chats, remote work, telemedicine, and online homework for students.
The net's coverage expands beyond residential homes, encompassing social and administrative structures as well as federal highways "Vilyui" and "Lena," which link Yakutia with the Amur region. This means long-distance drivers, transit drivers, and passengers can seamlessly plan their journeys and tackle on-the-go issues.
Maria Mamayeva, MegaFon's Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Director, commented, "Our technicians are on a mission to rectify 'white spots' on Yakutia's digital map. The recent improvements in Allaga and Tit-Ebye resulted in a twofold surge in traffic, with current internet speeds of 25-30 Mbps and a whopping maximum of 80 Mbps. This digital overhaul ensures seamless access to the internet and digital services whenever, wherever."
The revamp of telecom infrastructure has ignited the expansion of VoLTE technology – digital calls via the internet. Boasting simultaneous phone calls and internet browsing, this technology is already winning over residents, with half of all voice traffic shifting to 4G networks. The magic? VoLTE connections are established in the blink of an eye, boasting crystal-clear voice quality and minimal background noise.
While MegaFon's initiatives create digital waves in these rural areas, potential challenges loom. Ensuring the cost of internet services is accessible to all residents and maintaining the infrastructure becomes crucial to sustain the benefits of this digital transformation. Additionally, digital literacy efforts can help bridge the gap between traditional customs and the modern digital world.
This transformation is no mere blip on the radar, but a major step forward in digitalizing remote communities in Yakutia, enabling equal opportunities for online activities, economic growth, and improved accessibility to essential services. Here's to the power of the digital revolution!
- The villages of Allaga and Tit-Ebye in Yakutia's Suntarsky District regularly analyze their internet usage to better understand the benefits of the technology upgrade provided by MegaFon.
- The new 4G equipment installed in Allaga and Tit-Ebye villages regularly supports VoLTE technology, enabling citizens to simultaneously make phone calls and use the internet with crystal-clear voice quality and minimal background noise.
